Let's have one local authority

YOUR report (Post, June 23) concerning county councillor Kay Cutts banning the phrase "Greater Nottingham" set me thinking.

Why on earth do we require SIX separate councils to administer local government for the Greater Nottingham area? We have Nottingham human hair wigs City, Notts County, Rushcliffe Borough, Broxtowe Borough, Ashfield District (for the Hucknall area) and Gedling Borough, with no co- ordinated policies or planning and much squabbling and falling out.

Do away with the lot of them and let's just have one local government authority.

We may then be able to punch our weight and gain a fair share of Government funding which has been sadly lacking of late.
