A BRISTOL builder has won a regional award from a national organisation.

Mark Mitchell, from Brislington, was named building manager of the year at the Chartered Institute of Building's Built Environment Awards for the South West.

Mr Mitchell oversaw Kier's Pounds 4.2 million project to replace temporary classrooms with a brand-new teaching block at the school.

The project was handed over on schedule and to budget in September 2009, following an 18-month construction programme.

He said: "The project was a real team effort.

"The award is recognition of how successful a project can be when everybody really pulls together."

Kier Western managing director, Peter Young, said: "We are extremely proud of Mark's achievement, which is very well deserved.
