JEWEL THIEVES CAUGHT ON CCTV

CCTV footage of an armed raid on a Lincoln jeweller's has been released by police.

The footage shows two robbers dressed in white boiler suits and dust masks enter James Usher jewellery store in Guildhall Street, Lincoln.

One remains by the tiffany heart necklace door, holding it open, while the other threatens a member of staff with a hammer and commands him to open one of the display windows.

The robber is then shown filling a bag with various pieces of gold and diamond jewellery.

James Frampton, managing director of James Usher, has since announced the robbers got away with Pounds 80,000 of jewellery in the heist.

The armed raid took place on Saturday at 9.50am. After targeting the most valuable items in the shop, the robbers ran outside into a waiting green Vauxhall Astra.

The Astra was driven away by a third man, and a few minutes later, witnesses reported seeing it abandoned and Jaeger Lecoultre Watch ablaze in Lindum Terrace.

The three men are then believed to have escaped in a white van parked in Arboretum Avenue.

Lincolnshire Police officers have announced they are awaiting results from examinations on the wreckage of the car.

Detective Sergeant Pete Grayson said: "It has been forensically examined and we are awaiting results.

"We believe it was purchased Cheap christian audigier at the beginning of May in cash, after being advertised in a private sale in the Midlands."
