Alleged skinhead arrested in N

By Louis Hansen

The Virginian-Pilot

Norfolk

Norfolk police have arrested a man believed to be associated with a white supremacist group connected to vandalism at two local synagogues last year.

Corey J. Miller was arrested last month and accused of replica rolex violating parole for traveling without permission to white-power events across the country, according to prosecutors. Miller, 30, is scheduled to appear in court today on a felony fugitive charge .

Miller was not charged or implicated in the April 2009 defacing of synagogues on Granby Street and in Ghent. But according to a sworn statement, police became aware of Miller during the investigation.

They believe Miller is associated with Volksfront, a skinhead group, that also counted one of the synagogue vandals as a member, according to the sworn statement and court testimony.

Miller declined a request for an interview in the Norfolk City Jail, where he is being held.

In April 2009, four Norfolk synagogues were vandalized with anti- Semitic stickers.

Christopher John Brooks and John Edward Grogan were accused of putting more than 60 anti-Semitic stickers on the doors and windows of Temple Israel and Beth Messiah Synagogue on Granby Street.

Grogan, of Waynesboro, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in May to five years in prison. During his sentencing, Grogan testified he became a white supremacist while incarcerated and Fake Gucci Handbags joined Volksfront in November 2008. He testified that he regretted that decision.

Brooks, a Florida man, pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced to five years in prison, with the term suspended after time served.

In January, police spotted Miller at Norfolk International Airport wearing a jacket with the Volksfront logo, according to an affidavit.

Volksfront, founded in 1994 in Portland, Ore., according to its website, is at the "forefront of the struggle for white autonomy, white self-determination and the issues of the white working class."

In addition to law enforcement, the group is watched by the Anti- Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center. The law center describes Volksfront as a "racist skinhead" group with chapters in several states, including Virginia.

According to Colorado court records, Miller was convicted of felony aggravated robbery in 1996. Miller moved to Virginia, and the court ordered that he could travel no farther than 100 miles from his Norfolk home or leave the commonwealth without permission. The Norfolk office of Probation and Parole monitored Miller in Virginia, said Larry Traylor, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections.

Sworn statements from Norfolk police portray Miller as a busy traveler in 2009 and 2010. And although police say Miller was associated with a tech-savvy group known for spreading its influence through electronic media, he was betrayed by his cell phone, according to the statements.

Fake Replica Piaget Watches Watches Investigators obtained his cell phone records through a court order. The records indicated that Miller was in Florida in early December, and other law enforcement sources told Norfolk police that Miller attended a white power event called the "Martyrs Day Gathering" i

A case of Russ the Muss, or ma

Russel's tussle with Chinese Vice- President Xi Jinping's security detail raises some very interesting questions about the meaning of protest. It also shows how the news media's insatiable appetite for conflict is fundamentally re-defining the nature of protest action.

Before going any further, however, we'll need a working definition of both the noun and the verb. What is "a protest"? And, what does it mean "to protest"?

Put simply, protest is about registering your objection to and/ or expressing your disapproval of someone or something. A protest can be individual, or it can be collective, but essentially the protester says: "I don't like this."

Protest can take a wide variety of forms. From the formal, carefully argued protest delivered by an ambassador, to the angry torching of a foreign embassy by a frenzied crowd.

The news media, however, is redefining protest. Rather than use the term in relation to objection and disapproval, it prefers to present protest in terms of provocation, confrontation and agitation.

From being a statement or demonstration of disagreement, protest is now regarded as something very close to an act of aggression.

abercrombie fitch

This dangerous new definition of protest encourages the notion that any individual or group which sets up a confrontation between themselves and their opponents is guilty of nothing more than exercising their "freedom of speech". Even when it is clear that the confrontation has been carefully engineered to provoke its targets into doing something they will later regret, the protagonists argue insouciantly that this, too, is the protesters' "right".

But the conflation of the right to free speech with confrontational and provocative political behaviour allows those responsible for what would normally be regarded as profoundly unethical acts (such as burning down an embassy) to escape all moral sanction. Basically, if you're "making a protest", you can do whatever the hell you like.

This position is morally indefensible. It is simply untenable to argue that political acts can be conveniently separated from their consequences. With rights come responsibilities: the right to free speech doesn't include the freedom to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theatre.

Protest always occurs within a political context: a unique set of circumstances that the ethical protester is obliged to consider when deciding upon the nature of the protest he or she wishes to make.

What were the major elements of the political context in which Dr Russel Norman's tussle took place?

Most obvious were the deepening economic and cultural ties between New Zealand and the Peoples Republic of China. That Mr Xi, one of the most powerful men on the planet, was here, on New Zealand soil, is a sign of how large this nation now looms in China's diplomatic calculations. The potential benefits for New Zealand's future economic welfare which could flow from this rapidly deepening relationship are considerable.

Against these benefits Dr Norman entered the claims of the "Free Tibet" movement. Highly contentious, politically dubious, and hotly disputed by Chinese Louis Vuitton Monogram Multicolore Replica historians, these claims counted for more - in the minds of the Greens' leadership - than increasing the goodwill already fostered between the New Zealand and Chinese peoples by successive governments.

Well, that was their choice t

A case of who you know

After reading Monday's paper I remembered a saying Replica Nike Air Max 360 Shoes I heard years ago - it's not what you know but who you know.

Is that why Sara Goff, daughter of Labour leader Phil Goff, could appeal against her conviction for having a prohibited drug?

I've even read lately about some police not being convicted for drink- drive offences.

Anti-IL-5 therapy and DRESS

The phenomenon of drug rash, eosinophilia, systemic symptoms (DRESS) described in the case report by De Greef and colleagues1 is most likely the result of cellular apoptosis due to excessive cytokines and mediators released by drug-specific T-cells.2 Raised levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5 and IL-13 have been reported in patients, and because these cytokines are Chanel Handags Replica responsible for maturation and differentiation of eosinophils, they explain the eosinophilia seen in this condition.2 Mediators released due to eosinophil degranulation, such as eosinophilderived neurotoxin and major basic protein, activate and degranulate mast cells; subsequent histamine release can perpetuate the reaction. DRESS is known to cause serious end-organ damage, which raises the question of whether specific cytokine-directed therapy is likely to be beneficial in these patients. Only a well-designed clinical trial can answer this question.

Anti-fur protesters have their

Byline: CLEMMIE MOODIE

IT IS just over a year since she was attacked by anti-drugs campaigners for allegedly snorting cocaine.

Now Kate Moss is again under fire - for her taste in clothes.

Gevril Replica Watches

The 32-year-old supermodel is being targeted by anti-fur organisations.

She is repeatedly photographed in elegant outfits which appear to be made from animal pelts.

Only last week she stepped out in New York for a benefit auction clad in a luxurious shaggy black jacket which looked suspiciously like real fur.

And groups fear that wherever Miss Moss leads, others will follow.

The World Society for the Protection of Animals has written her a letter, pleading with her to boycott fur. Their call has been echoed by both the RSPCA and the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade.

In particular, she has drawn criticism in her role as the face of Burberry, which has refused to abandon fur in its collections.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, has launched an Internet site, Bloody-Burberry.com, featuring dead animalssuperimposed on images of models.

PETA spokesman Yvonne Taylor said: 'As the high-profile face of this company, Kate falls into this.

We urge her to take a look at one of our DVDs showing Cartier Replica foxes being electrocuted, wild animals being trapped in bone crunching traps, minx being gassed and dogs in China being bludgeoned.

'We believe that if she understood what happens in the fur industry then she would stop wearing fur.' The Croydon-born model is also accused of hypocrisy for staying with Burberry while signing a [pounds sterling]33million contract with anti-fur company Topshop. A Coalition spokesman said: 'It shows Audemars Piguet Watch that she does not have any ethics but is willing to take money for whatever she can get.' The market for fur is booming, seen in the sliding sales of the fake variety from [pounds sterling] 3million in 2002 to [pounds sterling]1million in 2006.

Britney Spears wore what appeared to be a fur stole to her 25th birthday party on Saturday.

One celebrity who has bucked the trend is Victoria Beckham. She was pictured in a Roberto Cavalli jacket remarkably similar to Miss Moss's - but made, at her request, from fake fur.

trade show handouts that stick

Trade Show Handouts That Stick Around After The Show

When planning your trade show marketing program, one of the important things to consider is the series of handouts you will make available to your booth visitors Full color printed materials are by far your best bet when it comes to trade show handouts But how do you maximize the impact of such a traditional item? You've spent significant money on staff training, beautiful graphics, and a professionally designed display The traffic is pouring through your booth But will they still remember you tomorrow?Let's face it, you only have two chances to make your message stick with your booth visitors: your follow-up strategy, and your handouts Will your handouts make it past the waste basket? Are they an integral part of your follow-up strategy? Let's be clear here We're not talking about handing out sexy things like cds, yoyos, ball caps, t-shirts, or beer mugs. tiffany charm Bracelet Those things have their place, but this is not it Right now we're talking about getting a piece of product literature into the hands of your prospects and hoping it doesn't get chucked into the garbage can just outside the exhibition hall** Why product literature?Product literature is always the "go to" handout because printed pieces of paper or card stock are cheap And done correctly they can be more effective, have more staying power, and certainly communicate more about your actual product than things like hats or pens. (Miu Miu). So what makes a memorable piece of product literature -- one that a prospective customer will keep? Here are a few suggestions** Don't be cheap when it comes to graphic designA cheap one colour flier may save you money in the short run, but it is much more likely to be pitched into the waste basket On the other hand, you probably don't need an expensive multi-page brochure The first one is "underkill", and the second is "overkill" Do an attractive, simple advertising piece that has catchy graphics and a clear statement of "the pitch" ** Use full colour and use striking photographsCreate a striking headline and don't just do a description of the product Create a "benefit-rich" statement that focuses on some significant customer-oriented benefit of your productFor example, you can create a headline that says "Powerful Front End Loaders from Mega Loaders", or you can say, "Get the Job Done in Record Time for Half the Price" Which one would you look at?** Content matters - make a substantial offerBy content we mean the pitch. (Wallet Burberry). the offer Create an offer they cannot discard or ignore Give something substantial away if they fill in an inquiry form Or tie your offer in with your website Create a valuable special offer they can only access online Put it in the form of a "valuable coupon", something like this:"Get $40 off your next purchase when your register on line"This encourages your prospects to keep the handout, and also encourages them to respond by going to your website and having another close look at your special offer. replica handbags What could be better? An automatic followup strategy. Wholesale Jewelry Shop ** Give them something they will keepOften a business card is the best Everybody keeps business cards Often we keep them long after the person has left the company or the company has ceased to exist Most of us have a little (or big) pile of business cards And some of us have a drawer full of them A few of us even have them carefully sorted in a RolodexMake your business card stand out from the crowd Spend a little extra and do it in full color Put a photo of your product on it, or use a striking photo that illus

2010 The Academy Awards 82 yea

The 2010 Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, displayed another year of offensive racial discrimination toward minorities.

Aigner Watches

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) recognizes the excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors and writers.

The four top categories for individual actors and actresses - Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress - saw another year in which African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and others suffered gross discrimination.

The 2010 Best Supporting Actress award went to an AfricanAmerican woman, Mo'nique, who played a poor, abused and abusive mother of a daughter who was knowingly exposed to incest in the movie Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire. Mo'nique is one of only four black women to win the Best Supporting Actress award in 82 years, and she is one of only five African-American women to ever win.

There has only been one African-American woman to win Best Actress in 82 years, and that was Halle Berry in 2001. She played the role of Leticia Musgrove in Monster's Ball, an extremely poor single mother and waitress whose husband had been given the death penalty.

When only five African-American women have won the Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress award in 82 years, it means that there is only one black female winner every 16 years. So why do African Americans watch the show? Maybe it's time for African Americans to hold their own Academy Awards show, and to Maurice Lacroix Fake boycott the Oscars.

AMPAS maintains a voting membership of 5,835 as of 2007, but somehow there has only been one female Hispanic-American winner for Best Supporting Actress: Rita Moreno in West Side Story in 1961.

Penelope Cruz was Spain's first female Oscar winner, giving Hispanic women a grand total of two female winners in eight decades. There has been only one Asian Best Supporting Actress winner: Miyoshi Umeki, for Sayonara in 1959.

Obviously, this is a disgrace. Where is the diversity in the winners? Why are other races being excluded?

Movie connoisseurs know that women such as Dorothy Dandridge, Cicely Tyson, Diahaxin Carroll, Ruby Dee and Angela Bassett have never won, even though they have delivered Oscar-worthy performances.

Fake Louis Vuitton Watches

That is not to mention actresses such as Raquel Welch, Meg and Jennifer Tilly, Jennifer Lopez and Selma Hayek, who could easily be added to the list of winners. Instead, what we see every year is an awards ceremony that does not accurately or professionally represent the United States. What we see is a highly financed private party for one race of our society.

The discrimination by the Academy Awards is appalling, and its selection of winners is pathetic. It would behoove those who have been excluded to celebrate and recognize themselves, and hold their own awards cezemony.

Instead of excluding actors and actresses by race, the Academy Awards should include them.

(with pics) FAMILY AND BETRAYA

(with pics) FAMILY AND BETRAYAL AT CENTRE OF WALL STREET SEQUEL By Celia Paul, Press Association reporter, in Cannes Director Oliver Stone today described his sequel to Wall Street as a film about family and betrayal. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps sees replica breitling watches Michael Douglas return to his Oscar-winning role as corporate raider Gordon Gekko.

The movie follows Gekko as he tries to repair his relationship with his daughter Winnie, played by Carey Mulligan, and attempts to rebuild his career after a prison spell. Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Stone said the moral ambiguity of the main characters was central to the film. He said: "This is a story about family, this is a story about people who are balancing their love of power and money with their need for love, and that is really what it comes down to. "Every single one of the fine actors in this betrays each other at some point in this movie, even Carey, who's often called the moral centre." Stone said he was happy Money Never Sleeps Replica Romain Jerome was screening out of competition at the festival, describing such competitions as an "addiction". He said: "I think it's a dangerous attraction, an addiction. I think people go crazy because of it. "We all like competition, and it's good but we all compete by making movies." Shia LaBeouf, who plays young Wall Street trader Jake Moore, said he had immersed himself in the world of investment banking to prepare for his role in the film. LaBeouf, 23, admitted that after filming several action movies and going through a "dark" period of his life, working with traders and bankers was a steep learning process. He said: "I felt like I was playing with the all- star team, and I was coming out of a place in my life that was pretty dark, and I didn't feel like I had a lot of confidence personally. "I felt like the only way I could have confidence, which is the only job requirement for these men, Replica jimmy choo was to be as astute as I possibly could, and these men embraced me because they embraced Oliver, and I learned a lot really quickly." end

(Special for CAFS) Roundup EAC

(Special for CAFS) Roundup: EAC calls for peaceful elections in Burundi By Daniel Ooko

NAIROBI, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Regional countries on Saturday called for peaceful presidential elections in Burundi, warning that the region would not entertain any acts of violence in the East African nation.

Kenyan Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula said Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, together with Burundi, which are members of the East Africa Community http://www.wubags.com/handbags-r/ (EAC) want Burundi to ensure the polls to be held on Monday are credible to avoid chaos in the region.

Wetangula, who was among the EAC foreign ministers that met with various political parties in Bujumbura on Thursday said the region is unanimous that free and fair elections would avoid a return to anarchy in the tiny African nation.

"As a region we want elections to be held on June 28 in Burundi to be free and fair. Burundi should embrace democracy by participating in the elections which have been boycotted by some parties," Wetangula told journalists in Nairobi.

He urged all political actors, especially the opposition parties to fully embrace the electoral process as the best means to attaining enduring peace and stability for Burundi and for the shared prosperity of the people of East Africa.

Wetangula said instead of boycotting elections, the parties should use the elections as opportunity to demonstrate democracy to the rest of the world.

According to Wetangula, the regional foreign ministers told the parties in Burundi that the gains in both security and stability that have been made in the last couple of years must not be lost.

He said they told the leaders including outgoing President Pierre Nkurunziza from the ruling CNDD-FDD party and his rival from the Union for National Progress (UPRONA) party Yves Sahinguvu who has pulled out of the race that the Arusha agreement that gave rise to all these gains must be protected at all costs.

"Having listened to all the parties, the region advises the people of Burundi very firmly that the region will not tolerate any slippage of the country into instability and violence," the minister warned.

"We told them that the region hopes that the parties to the elections will, where necessary, adhere to the laid down processes of dispute resolution wherever there is any election other than unhelpful activities."

Burundi's forthcoming presidential elections are meant to consolidate democracy and the peace process which was signed in Tanzania after more than 10 years of civil war.

However, mistrust, allegations of manipulation and the withdrawal of all opposition candidates has overshadowed the vote in the small, densely populated East African country.

Wetangula also warned that the region will impose travel sanctions to individuals bent causing violence that may mar elections, saying the tiny African nation has lost three of its presidents due to anarchy.

"We told the parties that the region will take unkindly any actions by individuals, politicians and anybody that will slip the country into violence. We have discussed it as a region to impose travel sanctions to those individuals so that they don't travel to any country within the region as has happened in West Africa," he warned.

Incumbent President Nkurunziza, as in 2005, will be the onl

Let's get behind Wiggy Park pl

I WOULD like to back up 'Very Proud Parent' and give my support to TRUFC who desire to extend their nonpermanent playing facilities. Having been born in Coton Green and going to Marmion Junior School, I feel I can have a say in the 'ping pong' row about 'Wiggy Park'. Yes, I remember many happy days sledging down the big hill or playing in the 'bomb hole' (as we THOMASWYLDE Replica called it in the 70s/80s). We, that is my brother and sisters, also remember the trim-trak - what remains of that? A few random tree trunks!

But I also remember watching my dad play proudly for his club at rugby, having to watch several men scour the pitch before they can play looking for broken glass and dog mess among other things.

The traffic was bad then so that can't be used as an excuse now. Coming forward a couple of decades, my nephew took up rugby until illness prevented him carrying on.

Pulsar

The same rituals had to be done - check Versace the pitch for glass and dog mess; traffic management still not brilliant etc.

My point is this - yes, Wigginton Park is beautiful, but it has been used by both dog walkers/families and TRUFC for years. It is high time this town got behind its rugby team now that it is doing so well.

If this was about extending football pitches, would it have been met with such strident opposition? I wonder...

Why on earth do we require SIX separate councils to administer local government for the Greater Nottingham area? We have Nottingham human hair wigs City, Notts County, Rushcliffe Borough, Broxtowe Borough, Ashfield District (for the Hucknall area) and Gedling Borough, with no co- ordinated policies or planning and much squabbling and falling out.

LOST RING FOUND... AFTER 27 YE

Staff Writer

GARDINER -- Jason Cottle lost his high school class ring 27 years ago while swimming in a quarry on Granite Hill in Hallowell.

He never thought he'd ever see it again. Then he read in the Kennebec Journal that the quarry was being drained.

Thursday morning, to his surprise, Cottle found the lost treasure.

"We found it on a ledge that would have been 35 feet under the waterline, where we used to swim," Cottle said Thursday. "As soon as I saw the picture in the paper, I realized the waterline was below the ledge where I lost the ring. I went right up there and started looking for it."

tiffany heart tag bracelet

The owner of Stinchfield Quarry, Lenny Nason, is draining the quarry, which has been closed for 80 years, to restart a granite mining operation.

Cottle, a 45-year-old carpenter from Gardiner, said he and a friend had to claw through dirt and pieces of granite that had slid into the water.

While searching for the engraved ring, they found jewelry, shoes, clothing, four pairs of glasses, three sets of keys on rings, unexploded blasting caps, clothing, about $3 in change, four cases of soda and beer bottles, and a safe in which someone apparently had cut a hole in the side with a blowtorch.

"I found the diving discount tiffany silver jewelry mask I lost when looking for the ring back in 1983," he said.

Cottle said the swimming spot is located on the north side of the quarry. People would lose items as they climbed up the rocks to get back to the rope swing, he said.

The ring looks pretty good, he said, even after all this time under water.

"The ring is in unbelievably good condition," he said. "It probably would look worse if I wore it for 27 years."

Cottle's 86-year-old mother, Pauline Cottle, said she was glad her son found his ring.

"I was tickled to death," she said. "He told me he lost it when he and his brother went swimming in the quarry. He said he put his hand up in the air, and it flipped off. He's been up there three days in a row now looking for it. He started hunting for it the first thing in the morning after he read the article."

Cottle said his mom had always thought he had given it to his high school sweetheart when she left for college.

"She didn't tiffany silver jewelry 925 want me to give it to a girl," he said. "She bought it for me and wanted me to keep it. That's the big reason I wanted to go find it. To prove to her I really did lose it. I would never have given it away. I'm quite the mama's boy."

Nason said he hasn't had time to look for items at the bottom of the quarry as the water recedes.

He said there is about 20 feet to go before the quarry is completely drained.

"I haven't looked for anything," Nason said. "I've been too busy with customers."

Human trafficking booming in r

By Freeman Klopott

Examiner Staff Writer

Human trafficking in the form of sex slaves and unpaid workers is now recognized as a booming crime element in the Washington area.

Just in the past few months:

A D.C. pimp pleaded guilty to human trafficking charges after selling his 12-year-old foster daughter for sex.

In Montgomery County, a half-dozen pimps were arrested under Maryland's human trafficking statutes.

Two men were arrested under the same law in Laurel after police determined they were prostituting a teenage girl and other women.

A Maryland restaurant owner admitted to harboring and underpaying a dozen illegal immigrant workers.

Giordano Watch

New laws in Maryland and the District, along with federal prosecutions in both jurisdictions, have helped officials better understand the enormous scope of the crime in the Washington region.

But Virginia Rep. Frank Wolf and several Virginia activists are worried that without quick action, the commonwealth will fall behind.

"The fact that Maryland and D.C. are doing so well with their [human trafficking] task forces has made greater opportunity for human trafficking to come to Virginia," Wolf, R-Va., told The Washington Examiner.

Virginia has no state law against human trafficking, and its task force on the subject has been coordinated by community activist Jessica Johnson, not the federal government.

tiffany jewelry 925

"Does this mean human trafficking doesn't happen in Virginia?" said Lisa Lynn Chapman, program coordinator for Fauquier Domestic Violence Services and a Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force member. "No, but it does mean we don't have documentation of people being trafficked in Virginia."

Federal prosecutors have the option of applying a federal statute to sex and labor trafficking cases. The problem, Johnson said, is that the U.S. Attorney's Office in Alexandria hasn't charged pimps and labor exploiters with human trafficking.

Earlier this year, a pimp who sold a 16-year-old girl for sex from Woodbridge hotel rooms was arrested on a variety of sex trafficking charges, but none of them was under the federal human trafficking law passed in 2000. Instead, the charges he pleaded guilty to were from a 100-year-old law forbidding the movement of children across state lines for sex. According to court documents, Marc Brickhouse beat his teenage prostitute when she asked to go home.

But in Maryland, a jury convicted Lloyd Mack Royal A. Lange & Sohne Watches III of sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion in March after learning how Royal beat and threatened minor girls into prostitution. The charge is one of several from the federal human trafficking statute.

Last week, activists expressed outrage that World Bank economist Anne Bakilana wasn't charged with human trafficking after admitting to not paying her domestic servant prevailing wages and threatening the servant with deportation if she quit her Falls Church job.

Bakilana has agreed to pay the servant $41,000 in back wages as part of her plea agreement, in which she admitted to lying to the FBI during the course of its investigation.

"Without human trafficking prosecutions, how can we educate the

OMAHA STAKES BENEATH THE COOL

It is the eve of the opening game of the CollegeWorld Series, and John Savage is ascool as a cucumber.

wholesale sexy lingerie

Scratch that.

He's as cool as a cucumber ... wrapped in an ice pack ... in a freezer ... buried deep in the arctic snow ... with light peaking through ... so ... cool.

He's the UCLA head baseball coach, but he could be a skateboard salesman in a retirement home.

He did, after all, sell Gerrit Cole on the Bruins after the New York Yankees selected him in the first round in 2008. He sold Trevor Bauer on forgoing his senior year at Hart High of Newhall to enroll early at UCLA. He sold Rob Rasmussen on the Bruins, Savage's enthusiasm for the program the final fig leaf.

Now he's selling the fact that his ballclub can walk away from Omaha with a national championship.

And he's believable.

"We feel we're a complete team," Savage said. "We have as good as pitching as there is in the country. There are just a lot of positive feelings in our team right now. We've been through the wars, we've been through the toughest conference in the country. There's just a lot of belief."

Savage may talk a big talk, but he can back it up.

The man has turned raw talent into polished stardom, going all the way back to his beginnings at the University of Nevada. During his time as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Wolf Pack, 24 players were drafted. From there, it was on to USC, where he helped the Trojans win the 1998 national championship, also as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, building future stars out of Barry Zito, Seth Etherton and Mark Prior.

UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero, then AD at UC Irvine, tapped the pitching maestro to rebuild its dormant program in 2001, and the Anteaters were in the NCAA playoffs within three seasons, despite competing in the ultra-competitive Big West Conference.

"He's a great recruiter; the way he connects in conversations, not only with the players but with the parents," said Matt Falk, who played two seasons for Savage at UC Irvine in 2002-03. "It was really cool being a part of bringing that program back; I didn't even feel like the program was brand new. We were there to compete right away. You have that safety net, 'Oh, (the program is) young, they won't do anything.'

"But it wasn't like that; he got players who were ready to compete Replica Abbey D Handbags right away."

A quick turnaround has been his calling card.

Following much success with the Anteaters, Savage was again called upon by Guerrero, hired in July 2004 to take over the Bruins from Gary Adams. After a 15-41 opening campaign, Savage led UCLA to the playoffs three straight years, including a super regional berth in 2007.

Panerai Bags Replica Now he's back in Omaha, trying to guide the Bruins to their first national championship in the program's first appearance in the CWS since 1997.

"The lasting thing that will always stick with me was his faith and joy when we beat Fullerton on Sunday," said Rasmussen , UCLA's starting pitcher in that 8-1 win . "For me, I know how hard he's worked to get this program to Omaha. Just that faith, man. It took him six years to get here, and that's the faith I'll always remember. It felt so good, as a p

Perfect pasta for summer days

PASTA has been our feature ingredient many times - but with the endless varieties of it available and equally endless versatility of this dish there are always new recipes to try and experiment with.

This week we have two simple recipes for you to enjoy. Firstly though, we thought it might be a good idea to give you the recipe to make fresh pasta - it is so easy to make it is surprising that most of our pasta machines abercrombie fitch are gathering dust in cupboards where we never think of them. Excellent quality pasta, fresh and dried, is available in all our supermarkets, but it can never match the flavour of good homemade pasta.

All you need to make your own pasta are: 1 egg, slightly beaten; teaspoon salt; 1 cup all-purpose flour and 2 tablespoons water. Start by combining flour and salt in a medium-sized bowl.

Make a well in the flour in the centre of the bowl, add the egg, and mix. The mixture should form stiff dough. If needed, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of water.

On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 3 to 4 minutes. You can now make your favourite type of pasta. Using a pasta machine or by hand, roll the dough out to desired thinness. Use machine or knife to cut into strips of desired width.

Remember that fresh pasta cooks almost immediately and needs little dressing up. For our first recipe for Linguini with Spicy Prawns all you will need is bag of fresh linguini, some good quality olive oil; 4 large cloves of garlic - for true garlic lovers more cloves can be added if desired; good quality Parmesan; chilli flakes; some large prawns, pealed; some coriander to garnish.

To begin, saute the garlic in oil and add the chilli flakes. In the meantime, cook the linguine in a pot of fresh boiling water. Add the prawns to pan with the garlic, chilli and oil. Cook for around 4- 5 minutes. Once the pasta is ready - note that to have it "al dente" it should cook for more Chanel Watches Replica Watch than 5 minutes - drain well and return to pan. Add the prawns and toss together well. Serve in a large bowl with a little coriander to garnish.

Cold pasta is a very tasty option, especially in the summer - but it is still quite overlooked. We find that Asian-inspired flavours work really well with cold pasta, so the next recipe is for Noodle- style Capellini with Shiitake Mushrooms. You will need 8 ounces of capellini pasta (the very thin spaghetti type) ; Cheap Nike Blazer SB 1/2 pound shiitake mushrooms; 1 red pepper; thinly sliced 1/4 cup rice vinegar; 3 tablespoons soy sauce; 1 tablespoon vegetable oil; 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger and 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley. These quantities serve 4. Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water.

Meanwhile, clean, stem, and slice the mushrooms. Add the mushrooms and red bell pepper during the last 2 minutes of cooking. Drain well.

Mix together vinegar, soy sauce, oil, and ginger. Transfer pasta, mushrooms, and pepper to a serving bowl and toss with the ginger dressing. Sprinkle with parsley before serving, and enjoy!

Harris bags four as Surrey let

JAMES Harris claimed four for 82 to help Division Two leaders Glamorgan gain a first-innings lead going into the final day of their LV= County Championship match against Surrey at Cardiff.

Twice Harris claimed two wickets in an over as Surrey declared their first innings on 303 for nine, 69 runs behind Glamorgan with Mark Ramprakash contributing 73 to pass 34,000 career first-class runs.

After surviving three overs at the end of the third day the Welsh county were seven for nought -- an overall lead of 76.

Glamorgan had resumed the third morning on 363 for eight in their first innings, but they only lasted another 34 balls with nine further runs added.

Chris Tremlett wrapped up the innings with the wickets of David Harrison, who fended a lifting ball to Tim Linley at mid-off, and Huw Waters, who was bowled with a yorker. Tremlett had displayed real venom from the Cathedral Road end, with one bouncer flying over wicketkeeper Steve Davies for four byes.

But any hope Glamorgan's attack had of utilising the extra bounce was ruled out as Surrey's left-handed openers Steven Davies and Arun Harinath made a positive reply. They raced to their 50 partnership inside nine overs.

Davies, whose 50 came off only 51 balls, did enjoy an early slice of luck when home captain Jamie Dalrymple missed a chance at second slip in James Harris' opening over.

At the other end he tucked into Harrison, who he hit for three successive fours. The Glamorgan bowler was taken off after conceding 28 in his opening four overs. It was left to Waters and Jim Allenby to stem the flow of runs.

And Dalrymple was forced to use six bowlers in the first 22 overs before lunch. He brought himself on just before the interval and was rewarded with the wicket of Harinath who he trapped leg before with his first ball.

At 157 for one Surrey lost two wickets in a Harris over with no addition to the score.

Davies edged to wicketkeeper Mark Wallace and five balls later Younus Khan, on Surrey debut, was bowled.

After getting to 19 Ramprakash reached 34,000 runs and also past 800 first-class runs for the season. But just when he looked well set for a century Harris dismissed Ramprakash and Rory Hamilton- Brown in consecutive balls. Ramprakash edged a lifting ball behind from Harris, who then trapped Hamilton-Brown leg before stuck in his crease.

Usman Afzaal was caught low down at second slip by Dalrymple as Surrey slipped from 280 for five to 290 for nine in the space of six overs before declaring when they had their fourth batting point.
